The Water Crisis

More than 1.1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water. A child dies every 15 seconds because of this. Death is only one symptom of this crisis, a weakened infrastructure and economy is fostered by this problem. 40 billion hours are lost each year, which is equal to 19 million full time workers. 443 million school days are lost each year and 6,000 people, mostly children, die every day due to the water crisis. Africa needs a stable infrastructure and Africa needs life.

The Solution

The non-profit organization known as PlayPumps International has created an innovative utility known as the PlayPump. PlayPumps are easily installed in African villages above water springs right below the ground. Children spin and play with a wheel that enables the device to pump safe drinking water into 660 gallon tank which is as accessible as tap water. One PlayPump costs $14,000 and gives 2,500 people access to safe drinking water for many years to come.

Our Efforts

Our school club, H2Africa, is run in Fairfield Warde High School. We are devoted to helping the people of Africa. Our first goal is to raise the $14,000 required to install a PlayPump. The company, Nestle, is sponsoring us in our efforts and has promised that if we raise $7,000, they will pay the other half. We are very thankful for their charitable nature and hope others will help us as well.
